What is the U.S. Diversity Visa Program?
The Diversity Immigrant Visa program is a United States lottery program for receiving a Green Card. It is also known as the Green Card Lottery. The lottery is administered on an annual basis by the US State Department . The program was created by Congress in the Immigration Act of 1990. The Act makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas, every year, to people from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
