What is the status of NEWARK SERVICE?
Continental Airlines provided non-stop service from South Bend to Newark during the 2005 Notre Dame Football season. Unfortunately, Continental did not run the non-stop Newark service during the 2006 football season. We are still hopeful that they will reinstitute the service at some future date since the flights in 2005 were well received. We have contacted American, Delta and Continental regarding the provision of year round service to the New York area. Our Executive Director spends a significant amount of time on air service development and in that light has visited the home offices for these carriers in an attempt to convince them of the value of this service. Our air service consultant has also prepared reports to justify this service. It would be helpful to us if our interested patrons contacted the airlines to encourage them to provide additional non-stop travel options from South Bend.
