What is the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy?
The Satisfactory Academic Progress policies are the requirements all financial aid recipients need to meet in order to be considered on “Satisfactory Status.” It’s in the Financial Aid Handbook. It entails completing the required number of units per semester, that is, 67% of the number of units attempted with a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0. Per the DVC Admissions’ Policy: if you withdraw from classes before 25% of the instruction time has elapsed (before the drop deadline date to not receive a “W”), these units will not be recorded.
• A student’s academic progress is evaluated at the end of each term. • The student’s academic average must be a 78% at the conclusion of each evaluation or the student will be placed on probation for the next evaluation period. • A student may request a 30 day grace on a term. • At a minimum the student must maintain the accumulated credits and the GPA indicated in the chart below at the end of each 24 week term or the student will be terminated from their training program.
As of September 2008, Connecticut Charts-A-Course implemented a Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. The purpose of this policy is to continue to help program staff move along the CCAC Career Ladder, as well as insure that all of the appropriate supports and resources are in place to help an individual be academically successful.
