What is the Merit Award?
The Merit Award is a $1,000 monetary award granted to 50 new members each year. Award recipients are selected based on how they exemplify Society’s mission to honor and inspire academic excellence and engaged citizenship for a lifetime. Recipients are announced at campus Induction Convocations in the fall. All new members are welcome to apply at nscs.org. The deadline to apply is July 1.

The Merit Award is given annually to one outstanding new member in each chapter. The amount of the Merit Award is $250.00 and selection is based upon the information provided in the new member profile. The Board of Directors for NSCS selects the Merit Award recipient and the new member selected is a person who best embodies the three pillars of the organization.
Each year NSCS awards the Merit Award to a select number of outstanding new members around the country. This prestigious award includes a scholarship to help defray the costs of education. Merit Award recipients are selected based on how they exemplify the three pillars of the Society: Scholarship, Leadership and Service. New members who are interested in applying for the Merit Award must do so online no later than July 1. Recipients are announced at Induction Ceremonies.
