International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is considered the “gold standard” certification in this field as it is the highest level of certification available anywhere in the world. Obtaining this certification involves fulfilling necessary criteria to qualify to sit for and pass an exam. This exam is offered by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and takes approximately six hours to complete.
