What is the GED Program?
The General Educational Development Program (GED) offers people who did not finish high school the opportunity to earn high school credentials. The GED program is jointly sponsored by the American Council on Education and the Florida Department of Education. The GED 2002 Series Tests will place a greater emphasis on workplace and higher education needs. The GED Tests are designed to measure the major skills and concepts generally associated with four years of regular high school instruction. The GED Tests are normed using a national sampling of graduating high school seniors to establish the standards required for earning a GED credential. In 1998, more than 35,000 adults earned their Florida High School Diploma through the GED Testing program.
