What is the Flamenco Festival?
The Flamenco Festival is, as its name suggests a flamenco festival. The idea is to gather a series of flamenco artists and performers in different cities in the USA and in London. What’s the objective? To establish flamenco in theatres around the world. As simple as that. The driving force behind the festival to allow Spanish artists to present their work on these stages. At the same time we want to combine big theatres with alternative venues which are important for other types of performance. We identify the venue that will best allow the artist to present his or her work. What are the highlights of this years programme? It’s difficult to say because I like all of them. It a very diverse festival. It goes from the sophistication of Estrella Morente to the flamenco roots of El Pele. We have Rafaela Carrasco, Sara Baras and Eva Yerbabuena’s modern dance. And of course Paco de Lucía. The bill is well thought out so that performers rotate and there is a representative of different types
