What is the best kind of toothpaste?
• Any toothpaste approved by the American Dental Association. Look for the ADA seal on the back of the tube. Infants and toddlers need to use toothpaste without fluoride. Children should NOT swallow toothpaste with fluoride. • Some children do not like minty tasting toothpastes. Choose a flavor that your child likes such as bubble gum or fruit.
I as a dentist reccomend Crest Pro Health. I will tell you why. Most toothpastes have Fluoride in them, which is all good an well, usually in the form of sodium fluoride. There is not much difference between the major toothpastes in this dimension. Many people reccomend Colgate because of a chemical called Triclosan, an antibacterial agent. I however like Crest pro Health because there is a chemical Sodium hexametaphosphate, which is a whitening agent that works differently from peroxide. It removes staining as well as protect your teeth from further staining. Try it for a while, you’ll notice a difference. Crest has a patent on using Sodium Hexametaphosphate in its suspension, so you will not find this anywhere else. As for mouthwash, I reccomend using something to control bacteria in the morning, like Crest Pro Health, or Listerine. This will help you not get gum disease (though you still need to floss). At night, I suggest using something with Fluoride, like ACT before you go to bed
