StormWatch is a new premium service that WeatherMaster offers. StormWatch utilizes the new “storm-specific warnings” now being used. So here’s how StormWatch works… The size of counties & parishes are about 1,000 square miles (about the size of Rhode Island) but most storms average about 200 square miles. Your street address is defined by a “latitude & longitude” reference point. We can take your street address (or latitude & longitude coordinates) and alert you to severe weather (severe thunderstorm, tornado, or flash flood warning). If a particular warning falls within (or within a specified distance of) your address, you’re automatically alerted by cell phone (text), e-mail, or text pager. No longer do you have to be tied down to a landline telephone (like some other services require you to do) or a television to see if a warning will be issued for your area, you can be “on the go”.
