What is Project Porchlight?
Project Porchlight is a community-based environmental initiative run by the not-for-profit organization One Change. The goal of Project Porchlight is to get Canadians to think about everyday ways they can conserve energy. The way we’re meeting our goal is by distributing a free CFL bulb to every home in Canada. Project Porchlight staff and volunteers distributes free compact fluorescent light bulbs door-to-door – encouraging Albertans to reduce energy use and their Ecological Footprint. To date in Alberta, over 2000 community volunteers have helped deliver over 500,000 CFL bulbs in 250 small and medium-sized Alberta communities. Participants saved $17.6 million and 235,000 megawatt hours in energy.
