What is “Online” DVD Rental About Anyway?
Netflix and Walmart DVD are “online” DVD rental shops. In this model you browse through online lists of DVDs available and add them to a rental queue. You pay a fixed monthly cost and are shipped your next DVDs as you return them. The monthly cost is based on the number of DVDs you desire to have out at any give time Walmart offers 2, 3 or 4 at a time. Netflix offers 3, 5, or 8 at a time. Neflix also has a 2 at a time option which is restricted to 4 a month. The DVDs are shipped to you pre-paid in the mail and you return them in pre-paid mailers. You don’t pay a late fee – you can keep the DVD out for as long as you like. However you can only get new DVDs sent to you as you return the ones you currently have out.
