One-ED is a new way of doing business in the Department. The name represents a vision for the Department in which we work together as a unified agency to carry out our important mission. Like many other organizations in the government and private sectors, our work is sometimes impeded by the complexity of our organizational structure and the processes and technology we use to get our work done. Under One-ED, we hope to be able to work more efficiently across our organizational stovepipes. We hope to eliminate duplicative work, rework and unneeded steps in the work that we do. One-ED is designed to help us find the best ways of performing our major business processes, including not only the business processes of grant making and loan administration that are visible to our customers but also our internal processes-those related to human resources administration, payment processing and information management, and audit.
