What is MSM?
(Methylsulfonylmethane) – is a naturally occurring sulfur compound found within our bodies. It is a safe and natural, assimilable food derived from the ocean. MSM is neither a medicine, drug, chemical, herb, stimulant, synthetic food or additive. It is a member of the sulfur family but should never be confused with sulfa drugs, to which some people are allergic. It is completely safe, odorless, and non-toxic. A 160 pound man has approximately 4 pounds of sulfur as body weight. MSM is a natural organic compound. It occurs naturally in the foods we eat but disappears when we process our food. 2. Where does MSM come from? MSM is a naturally occurring, sulfur containing organic compound found primarily in fresh fruits and vegetables and in every cell of the human body. MSM is found in raw vegetables including broccoli, peppers, Brussels sprouts, onions, asparagus and cabbage. The highest natural concentration of MSM is found in mammal’s milk.
MSM is methylsuphonylmethane. It’s a sulfur compound. It’s been found useful in the relief of symptoms associated with allergies, gastrointestinal upsets, arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders. Glucosamine is most often an ingredient that can be found mixed with MSM, that promotes healthy joints and tissues. I use and recommend Agility by HealthyPetNet for my Boxers, as a preventative. Agility is so effective, many pet owners have been able to get their pets off of harmful steroid drugs (e.g. Rimadyl) and on to a natural course of treatment.
MSM – an odourless, white crystalline molecule – is a natural form of organic sulfur found in all living organisms, and is present in low concentrations in our body fluids and in the connective tissues of the skin, nails, and hair. This sulfur is necessary for collagen synthesis. MSM is a natural component of many fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood and meat, and is also found in tea, coffee, chocolate and milk. In fact, one of the richest sources of MSM in the diet of mammals is milk. MSM is also commonly referred to as ‘Nature’s Beauty Mineral’! MSM naturally scavenges free radicals, relieves allergies to foods and pollens, controls acidity in stomach and ulcers, and helps the vitamins and minerals we take in to nourish our bodies. It is an all-natural product derived from sulfonyl, an organic compound that grows naturally in plants, animals, and in soil. Its largest concentrations are found in pine trees. Unlike sulfur, MSM is completely water-soluble and non-toxic.
MSM stands for “methysulfanylmethane” and is a natural organic source of sulfur, well known to alternative medicine reportedly as a highly effective, nontoxic substance used to reduce arthritis pain, stiffness and inflammation of tissue. Found in all living organisms, MSM is crucial to body function and structure and aids the body in creating and repairing cells enabling the body to heal itself on a cellular level rather than covering up symptoms. MSM is an important nutrient—– a trace mineral that “carries a big stick.” MSM is an integral component of MaXXiRub.
