What is ISU Alert?
ISU Alert is a system for quickly delivering emergency phone, text and e-mail messages to Iowa State University students, faculty and staff. ISU Alert is built upon the Connect-ED® System, developed specifically for schools, colleges, and universities by BlackboardConnect. The system will be activated when there are immediate threats to the safety of those in the university community. Notifications will be sent via landline phones, cell phones, text messages and e-mail. ISU Alert complements other forms of emergency notification, such as the siren system, university web site, public address systems, personal communication and signage. Messages will be brief, include basic information and provide instructions on how to obtain more details. Dean of students Dione Somerville and ISU police command Gene Deisinger talk about the ISU Alert system in this 9-minute video.
