What is IRS Form 1099-B?
Form 1099-B lists proceeds from broker and barter exchange transactions. This includes income from sales of stock, bonds, or other securities. This may also include revenue coming from corporate reorganization or sale that leads to recognized gains. Barter transactions will also be included, with an estimate of the fair market value of goods received in exchange listed on this form. If any federal tax has been withheld, that will be indicated. This form should be sent to taxpayers no later than January 31, or the next business day if that falls on a weekend.
