What is Imprinting (Twilight Saga)?
I haven’t read twilight, but I can tell you in general what is referred to as “imprinting”. This is something seen in the animal world, and the traditional example is ducklings. Newly hatched ducklings will “imprint” on the first animal they see, and they will follow that animal around (and generally imitate it) just as if it were their mother. In a more general sense, “imprinting” is referred to as something that fascinates someone in their youth, to the extent that they prefer that particular variety of something above all others. Thus (an example from Joel Rosenberg’s book) a young man who first fell in love with a long-haired brunette strongly prefers that type of girl, while another claims that he “imprinted” on girls in tight jeans. So. in general, “imprinting” suggests a submissive fascination with some specific animal of another species, or of some specific variety of animal of one’s own species, or even of one particular animal or person. Jim,
In the twilight saga imprinting is when a werewolf finds his other half. Jacob says in Eclipse is like gravity doesn’t pull you anymore she does. It is how the werewolves find their soul mates. Everyone in the pack has imprinted except for Leah and Jacob. And No, Jacob did not imprint on Bella or Leah.
