What is Hypotonic Solution?
Hypertonic solution has a higher concentration of solute while hypotonic solution has a lesser or lower concentration of solute. In the second case the item (a cell) that would be put into the hypotonic solution would swell because of the water diffusing into the cell. To help, just think hyper (higher) – hypo (lower).
