What is homosexuality?
Homosexuality refers to erotic attraction and behavior between people of the same sex: males sexually attracted to males, males having sex with males, females sexually attracted to other females, and females having sex with other females. Homosexuality can be expressed in a variety of psychological, behavioral, and cultural ways. We, like many others, often refer to homosexual males as gay men, and homosexual females as lesbians. Like other sexual interests, homosexual interests in human beings are variable. For example, some adolescents may have sexual interest in their same-sex peers but never act on those desires. Other adolescents may have sex with members of their same sex but move toward opposite-sex partners later on. Some people may experience homosexual interests only later in life. Some people experience homosexual interests throughout their lives, while others (most people) never seem to have any sexual interest in members of their own sex.
