What is Hedge Betting?
Simply put, hedge betting involves placing more than one bet on a single sports event. By covering a variety of different outcomes a sports bettor will hope to increase his chances of earning an overall profit by winning one of these bets. There are many different types of hedge bets. Each-way betting is a well known form of hedge betting where a bet on a place and a win is placed on a single selection. Alternatively a number of selections will be made in the outright markets for a sports event in the hope that one of these wins. Hedge betting can also involve putting a number of different types of bets on a single sports event – for example backing one team to win a football match and then betting on the other team to win by a specific margin or with a specific score.
