What is Hamilton doing about youth homelessness?
Hamilton has a coordinated and increasingly comprehensive system of services for street-involved youth. From hot meal programs, to outreach, to transitional housing street-involved youth find many services in the downtown core. Gaps include prevention strategies, housing support and open-access programming. The Street Youth Planning Collaborative in partnership with the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton is working on a three year project, Addressing the Needs of Street-Involved and Homeless Youth in Hamilton. This project seeks to understand the service system for street-involved youth and engage the community to ensure the response to youth homelessness is as coordinated and comprehensive as possible.
