Ghostscript is the free open source engine that actually does the conversion from Postscript to PDF for PDF Printer. PDF Printer searches your Word document for Hyperlinks, bookmarks and tables of contents, sends the printed ‘postscript’ to Ghostscript then applies all your settings, document merging and security to the PDFs created and also makes your links, bookmarks and tables of contents clickable.
