What is genuine Royal Delft?
The monarch of the Netherlands will sometimes honor a factory with the prefix Koninklijke (Royal). Of companies still making Delftware, De Porceleyne Fles and Tichelaar Makkum have both received this honor for their ceramics, and Goedewaagen for its pipe production. However, there is no regulation in the Netherlands preventing other companies without this designation from calling themselves Royal or including a crown in their pottery mark, and many of them do. – Discovering Dutch Delftware by Stephen J.
