What is gauss rating?
The manufacturer’s gauss rating is the amount of magnetic energy a particular material can store. It represents the energy measurement inside a magnet, at its core. Because magnets are made from different types and grades of material, each magnet has a different gauss rating. (see magnet types) Think of gold and its different karat ratings (10k, 14k, 18k, 24k). It’s very similar with magnets. Magnets have different quality grades. The higher grades are more powerful, able to store more energy, and will have a higher gauss rating.
