What is Energy Star?
ENERGY STAR is a voluntary partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy and participating window manufacturers. Because heating and cooling needs vary, there are different performance requirements for each region the United States – Northern, North/Central, South/Central and Southern. Each set of the requirements is based upon the typical climate and energy usage patterns of that region. The Energy Star label will show you which windows are best for the area where you live.
