Electronic Learning, or e-learning, is education via the Internet, network, or stand-alone computer—a network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge. e-learning refers to using electronic applications and processes to learn, such as Web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, and digital collaboration. Content is delivered via the Internet, intranet/extranet, audio or video tape, satellite TV, and CD-ROM.
E-learning is the delivery of a learning, training or education programme by electronic means. We use a variety of different technologies to help support your e-learning, we also have workshops and short courses. Many of the workshop sessions will be delivered face-to-face, though we are also able to deliver them to a much wider group using technology. For our modules and programmes, a large part of the e-learning content is made available via a virtual learning environment or VLE. This is basically a web site that gives you 24/7 access to your module. As well as access to the content and activities, you will be able to use discussion boards and chat facilities to connect with other people on the module. All CPD modules provide an option of downloading module content for you to read and review off-line, using your online time answering questions or completing tasks. To support the VLE we have a virtual classroom tool that will give you a chance to meet with others on the module virtual
