What is differential GPS or DGPS?
Suppose you had a fixed location that you knew the precise coordinates for and you took a position fix there. You could then tell how much error is being introduced by comparing the known position to the computed one. Now suppose that someone else was to do this error computing for you and then transmit this information to you so that your receiver could compensate for the error. That in its simplest form is what DGPS does. It transmits the Differential to your receiver. To receive this differential information you need a differential beacon receiver. The Magellan DBR-IV can be connected to your MAP 330 or MAP 330M to receive any DGPS information that may be transmitted in your area. Contact your Magellan dealer for more information on the Magellan DBR-IV and on DGPS service in your area.
