In quantitative assays, a “calibration curve” or “standard curve” is used to determine that analyte concentrations in samples from the levels of signal measured. Curve-fitting provides an interpolatory device so that a limited number of standards (or “calibrators”) can be used to determine the relationship between concentration and signal (the “dose-response”) over the whole concentration range of the assay. The standard curve may be plotted in a variety of formats: linear, semi-log, log, spline, with concentration on the x-axis and signal on the y-axis. For optimum results using DSL assays, customers are advised to read the instructions given in the product inserts supplied with each assay and adhere to the advice given in the “Calculation of Results” section.
