Officially 2-5C for the fridge and -18C for the freezer BUT old fridges won’t achieve that because the insulation around the door generally leaks fridges with internal iceboxes will fail to do that because either the icebox will be too cold or the fridge will be too hot fridges or freezers that don’t autodefrost will tend to frost up at those settings, and then the efficiency goes down, the electricity goes up and eventually the temperature goes up as well. very few fridges have good enough temperature distribution to keep the stuff within those narrow limits without creating some excessively cold spots.
