Compost gardening is the process of recycling kitchen garbage, lawn clippings, and other organic waste and turning it into a useable resource for helping to grow better plants and gardens. Composting accelerates what nature would normally take care of eventually anyway – the process of decomposition. It’s commonly thought that compost is soil. This is not true. Compost is not the same as the dirt that you normally find in the ground. It may look just like dirt, but it has very different properties. Think of it more as a fertilzer, which enriches the soil to help the plants grow stronger and faster. It’s like giving your plants a powerful multivitamin.
