What Is Children With IEP?
I have an IEP, so let me see if I can help you out. An IEP is given to children that have a type of disability, whether its mental or physical. I personally have a learning difference in that I process information slowly; however it doesn’t mean that a child with LD (learning difference) or any other type of disability is not smart, it just means they have to learn how to cope with whatever they have. An IEP allows the child to have certain modification that make it easier to cope. For example, when I was going through elementary school, I had several modification such as modified assignments, dictation, extended time, etc. A friend of mine has a physical disability, which in her IEP says she has preferential class location that way she doesn’t have to walk long distances from class to class; she also has things like a book at home and one she keeps at school so she doesn’t have to lug them around.
