What is CERT?
A. CERT is online Continuing Education for Radiologic Technologists, which provides American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Category A credit via monthly lessons. Lessons focus on topic areas needed most by technologists including CT, mammography and MRI and provide 1 ARRT Category A credit each. The mission of CERT is to provide continuing education for radiologic technologists through focused content recognized worldwide for its quality and timeliness.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. There is a CERT Overview paper located at http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/CERT/overview.asp that gives you a complete description of CERT.
