What is centre parcs?
A brand name for purpose-built holiday villages in northern Europe, of which three are in Britain. You stay in villas positioned to provide maximum privacy with an optimum view. From the outside the accommodation looks unprepossessing but don’t be fooled. Interiors are elegant and spacious, with picture windows to bring the forest closer. Short breaks, usually Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday, include accommodation and free use of the pool. Food, sports and other amusements must be paid for. There are about ten restaurants and more activities than you could possibly sample in a month. What can you do? There are nine activity categories in all, from the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, which my children adored, to the adult-friendly Spa. Indoor sports include inline skating and yoga while outdoors you’ll find crazy golf and a soccer school. Should you plan? Yes.
