What is carpet quality and density?
Carpet quality is determined by a combination of six factors: fiber, pile, twists, stitching, durability weighting and face weight. These factors are all directly related to the carpet’s density.Carpet FiberCarpets are commonly made from either nylon or polyester fibers. Polyester fibers are significantly denser than nylon and are considered the better material despite the strength of nylon fibers.PilePile density is measured in ounces per cubic yard, and tells a buyer how many individual carpet strands are in the carpet, and how close together those strands are. The higher the pile density, the more durable the carpet will be.TwistsTwist is the number of times a single strand of fiber has been spun and is measured in twists per inch of strand length. Short tight twists make a carpet denser and more desirable.StitchingStitches are measured in stitches per inch. The higher the number of stitches per square inch, the more dense and more sturdy the carpet.Face WeightThe face weight is the
