What is an Occasional Per Diem Certificate (OPDC)?

You must possess a Bachelor’s degree AND be nominated on Vacancy Form 950, Nomination for an Occasional Per Diem Certificate (OPDC), which may be issued by a Personnel Director in a Community School District, High School Superintendency, Citywide Special Education Program or the Chancellor’s District. Both fingerprint and medical clearance must be on file with the NYC Board of Education before commencement of employment. Obtaining a General Evaluation form from a counselor at 65 Court Street, Room 102, or at a participating district satellite office, is a good way of demonstrating your eligibility for a nomination. Your counselor can also give you additional information about the process. District lists are available in the rear pocket of this handbook. Note: See Information for all Applicants for information about fingerprint and medical clearance.
