What is an Eco Fee?
• An Eco Fee (Environmental Fee) is a fee charged to customers on products that require special handling at disposal to minimize environmental hazards. • The collected fees are used to fund environmental programs such as waste disposal and recycling. • Products on which the Eco Fee will be charged include: paint, oil filters, oil containers, solvents and their containers, antifreeze and its containers, televisions, computers and peripherals, pressurized containers such as propane tanks, and more. • In Quebec, Bill 60 legislation requires that advertised product prices include Eco Fees and core charges. This means that the retailers must show the total cost of the product or service (excluding provincial and federal sales tax). On canadiantire.ca, Quebec customers will see these charges clearly displayed in the Total Price of auto part products.
