Advanced Standing is available only to students whose undergraduate degree in social work or social welfare was from an undergraduate program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education at the time the degree was awarded, and received in the within 7 years of application. If your undergraduate degree was in a field other than social work you are not eligible for Advanced Standing.Eligible applicants may apply to the Advanced Standing program and, if not accepted, will automatically be considered for the Standard Program.

• The Advanced Standing, Master of Social Work program is available only to applicants possessing a Bachelor of Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education accredited program awarded in the last five years. Advanced Standing applicants must have earned a grade of “C” or better, or be in the process of completing: Social Welfare Policy, Research Methods, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Social Work Practice and Field Education. The application should include a copy of the final field evaluation. The Advanced Standing student will enroll for 9 semester hours in the summer session, and will be expected to fulfill the second year curriculum as noted in the full-time program.

Advanced standing is available to students who have earned a bachelors degree in social work from an undergraduate program that was accredited by the Council on Social Work Education at the time the degree was awarded. To be eligible for advanced standing students must begin their graduate program within seven years of completing their undergraduate degree. A prospective student whose B.S.W. is more than seven years old can have her/his transcript evaluated for eligibility for the advanced standing program.
