What is a water softener?
A water softener is the unit that reduces the hardness of the water by removing and replacing the hardening minerals of calcium and magnesium with another element, frequently sodium. But with extensive reports on the negative effects of extended use of sodium chloride, there is now fast emerging trend toward the use of potassium chloride, a beneficial element that we now use at Prime Quest.
The ion exchange water softener is the most common tool used in the removal of scale-forming calcium and magnesium ions (known as temporary hardness) from hard water. A typical water softener supplied from Unitech Water Systems has four major components which are also available separately as spares from our website.
