A Reiki treatment is unlike any other massage treatment you may have had. You will be asked to fill out some brief paperwork, and the Reiki practitioner will ask what part of the body, mind or spirit you want to heal. You will then be asked to lie down on a massage table, but you may remain fully clothed, removing only your shoes and your glasses. However, you may also be asked to remove any electronic devices, including watches, pagers and cellphones, as well as any large metal jewelry you may be wearing which may interfere with the treatment. Depending on the particular training the Reiki practitioner has had, he or she will then try to locate any energy blockages in your body by various methods of scanning with the hands, or testing with a pendulum. The Reiki practitioner will then place his or her hands on your body in a series of hand positions to send, channel, or balance your energy.

Once a patient is in the chamber and the door is closed, the oxygen begins to circulate. This starts a gradual increase in pressure — called compression. The oxygen circulation produces a relaxing sound much like the wind blowing through trees. There may be some slight warmth, but that is temporary. The Chamber Operator remains by the chamber throughout the treatment to adjust the rate of compression according to patient tolerance and to coach the patient on relieving the full sensation in the ears. You may feel fullness in your ears as your eardrums adjusts to the change in the chamber pressure. This is very similar to the feeling you experience when you are in an airplane or elevator. Compression generally lasts 10 minutes depending on how effective one is at clearing their ears. When the interior of the chamber reaches the prescribed pressure, the fullness sensation in the ears will cease and the patient is free to rest or sleep. The chamber environment remains at room temperature.

Upon arriving, you will be greeted and given a detailed patient information packet. This usually takes from 15-20 minutes to fill out. After reviewing your information, we will talk about your health, your symptoms, and your goals. This initial conversation is one of the most important parts of your treatment because it gives us the accurate picture we need to identify the imbalances present in you at that moment in your life. In concluding the initial health interview, we then ask you to lie down on the massage table. We take your pulse and look at your tongue which helps us formulate the appropriate diagnosis for you. Next, the soothing music begins; now you are ready for acupuncture. Most of the acupuncture points we will initially use are located below the elbow and knee and extend to the hand and foot. We place the thin, painless needles in specific points that we determine are necessary to achieve your stated health concern and goals. This first appointment is typically 30 minute
