What is a TOE ?
TOE clearly defines buyer’s and service provider’s understanding of deliverables, milestones and payment terms. The most important aspect of such an agreement is the milestones. It outlines the amount associated with each milestone, and also when and how much the provider will be paid after the delivery of the milestone.
TOE is the acronym for TCP/IP Offload Engine. It is a piece of hardware that “offloads” the work of the TCP and IP protocols from the main CPU. The result is a speed increase of 10x to 50x. The word TOE is used by vendors that sell chip sets, and also by manufacturers of end-user interfaces such as PCI or SBUS cards.
