What is a PRS Licence?
A PRS (Performing Rights Society) Licence is the licence required in order to play copyrighted music for anything other than your own listening pleasure. In other words, if you want to play music in your business, you need to have the permission of the owner to do so. The Performing Rights Society represents these interests and paying for a licence provides the clearance you need to play music publicly. If copyrighted music is played in a commercial environment, it is the responsibility of the company playing the music to obtain a PRS licence.
