What is a Log Home?
It represents an up scale life style for people who like a cosy well-built unique home. A Log Home is built primarily with handcrafted or machine-shaped logs. God, I like the smell of a Log Home. Yes, we do live in a Log Home. I have 15+ years experience building and working on Log Homes. I designed, sold, built and renovated countless Log Homes in Europe and the United States. I traveled extensively to obtain my knowledge about Log Homes; the different styles and materials, the advantages and mistakes. I know what I’m talking about. I never found a “perfect” Log Home. A Log Home is built out of natural materials. Wood has a mind of its own. Some people say a Log Home “lives”. This makes a Log Home unique, you either love it or you hate it. A Log Home costs more than a conventional stick-frame home and it takes a lot of maintenance to keep its beauty. At least, that is how its supposed to be. Some Log Homes are just a nightmare.
