What is a Locking Clip?
A locking clip is a metal stamping that is required to lock-off some automotive lap/shoulder belt systems that do not have a cinchable locking feature at the latch plate.(The latch plate is the flat chrome piece that plugs into the seat belt buckle). On these particular automotive belts, the vehicle webbing flows freely through the latch plate and does not allow a child seat to be properly tightened into the vehicle. Upon installing it properly, the locking clip locks-off the webbing of these free flowing systems at the latch plate. This allows you to set the desired length of vehicle belt required to create a tight fit of the child seat into the vehicle. Click here to return to the top of this FAQ page.
