What is a Digital Copier?
First of all, the term copier needs a little explanation. G-I s Digital Copiers are actually Multi Function Products (MFPs), which means they are indeed copiers, but most can also scan, print and fax. More on that later. Conventional copiers we ve been using for years are referred to as analog copiers . This helps differentiate them from their newer digital brothers. Analog copiers worked mechanically through the reflection of light off your original that was then bounced off mirrors and focused with a lens on a photo-sensitive drum. This process was referred to as a light-lens technology. As you might expect, the Digital Printer/Copier do not use the light-lens system, but rather scan your originals electronically and then print (copy) them from an electronic file. Printing is accomplished with a laser type print engine. For the casual walk-up copier user, the new Digital Printer/Copier can appear almost identical to its older brother. Here at G-I we feel this similarity is a benefit.
