What is a Collaboratory?

A Collaboratory is a small group of Colleagues, ideally composed of 2 Mediator, 2 Executive and 2 Educator Colleagues who have a particular interest in a specific topic. It is a combination of a discussion group, research opportunity and practical application of a particular topic. For example, a small group of Colleagues with an interest in risk and uncertainty in complex decision making may focus on a specific issue related to the topic that has not previously been studied in a scientific manner. The Collaboratory will formulate questions, research the issue, test their theory and report back to the broader MMI community with findings, further questions and recommendations for further study or other action.
