What if the drought ends?
The ending of the drought is a necessary step along the path of recovery of the Murray-Darling Basin. The earlier the drought ends, the earlier the Murray-Darling Basin can be expected to recover. However, low water flows have also been affected by historic upstream over-allocation and climate change. These issues also need to be addressed to maintain lake levels and make sure South Australia’s drinking water is kept secure.
