What happens if there is a power cut?
In the event of a power cut, which is thankfully rare these days, the cat flap will lock so that animals cannot enter. This will prevent intruding animals from entering your house during the power failure. However, any animal will still be able to go out. Once the power has been restored, the cat flap will continue to operate normally.
If your home is connected to the national grid, your PV solar energy system is automatically switched off if there is a power cut. This is a safety measure to stop electricity leaking onto the national grid so that people who may be working to restore the power supply are protected. There is currently no product that can be added to your PV solar energy system to act as a back up.
