What happens if a parent doesn’t meet his/her child at the stop after a request?
A. Upon reaching the stop, the bus driver will radio the dispatcher and request a call to the parent’s residence. If there is no answer, the driver will be instructed to keep the child on board and continue with the route. After completion of the route, they will request another call and, if successful, will return to the original stop. If unsuccessful, the principal will be notified and the child will be returned to the school. If a parent is in the habit of meeting his/her child but has not requested a “Must be Met by Parent” and, for whatever reason, is delayed in getting to the stop, the same will apply. Also, should the parent be unable to meet the bus and send someone the driver has not seen before, he/she should call the transportation office to notify them of the change. Please remember that if a driver has to return a student on the morning route, the bus will now be late for the afternoon kindergarten route.
