What food do cougars eat?
Cougars main prey is the white-tailed deer or elk, but they are known to eat smaller animals such as porcupines, squirrels, mice, racoons, rabbits and beavers. Although they are a natural predator, they rarely attack humans and it is unlikely that this is because of hunger. The main reasons Cougars attack humans is because they are provoked, threatened, disturbed or they feel their young are in danger.
