What does the SEEPP mean to suppliers?
With the growing environmental and social conscience in North America, it is anticipated that many suppliers are already in compliance (as indicated by a number of suppliers engaged during the policy development process). Suppliers who offer products or services that embody sustainability benefits, and offer them at a reasonable cost, will be recognized during the supplier selection process on competitive bids. The City will work with suppliers who do not meet the minimum standards, to help them understand how to achieve the standards within an acceptable timeline. This will place all suppliers on a level playing field in terms of local or internationally accepted standards for wages, overtime, labour rights and legal compliance.
