What does “Taekwondo” mean?
Taekwondo literally means “the art of kicking and punching”. In Korean, tae means “foot” (lower body part), kwon means “fist” which refers to the torso and is concerned with everything done by arms and hands, and do means “way”, it has nothing to do with the word art, rather it’s the spiritual nature of taekwondo, which refers to everything from neck and up.
